environmental
justice
I
care
about

happen
in
courtrooms
alone

it
happens
in
material
choices

in
stormwater
management
,
in
the
albedo
of
pavement
surfaces
.
I
want
to
study
environmental
engineering
with
a
focus
on
urban
heat
and
hydrology
.
I
am
drawn
to
research
on
permeable
pavement
systems
in
low
-
canopy
neighborhoods
,
and
I
hope
to
contribute
to
community
-
based
participatory
research
labs
.
More
broadly
,
I
want
to
learn
the
mathematics
and
thermodynamics
that
turn
observation
into
scalable
infrastructure
.
My
milk
-
crate
sensor
network
worked
because
it
was
cheap
,
local
,
and
specific
.
I
want
to
learn
how
to
make
solutions
that
are
all
three
—
but
built
to
last
twenty
years

not
twenty
days
