genuinely excited about the roadmap and the design culture you're
building.
I wanted to reach out regarding the compensation package. The offered
base salary of $118,000 is thoughtful, and I appreciate the equity and
benefits outlined. Based on my six years of experience scaling design
systems at high-growth startups — including my recent work at Figma —
and current market data for senior individual contributors in this space, I
was hoping to discuss a base salary of $132,000.
This figure aligns with the midpoint for similar roles in the current market
and reflects the specialized systems and cross-functional work the
position requires. I'm also very open to adjusting the mix — for instance,
a slightly lower base paired with an increased equity grant or a signing
bonus — if that provides more flexibility within your bands.
Vertex Labs feels like the right next step for me, and I'm eager to
contribute. I know these conversations are standard, and I want to be
transparent about my expectations while remaining flexible on structure.
