I. CATALYST: STATUTORY INTERPRETATION & ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE
My commitment to pursuing a Juris Doctor is anchored in a fundamental observation:
while public policy sets societal goals, it is the precise mechanics of statutory interpretation
and administrative law that determine whether those goals achieve meaningful
enforcement. During my undergraduate studies in Public Policy and Economics at
Georgetown University, I focused heavily on regulatory compliance frameworks. Analyzing
landmark judicial opinions demonstrated to me that the line between legislative intent and
administrative execution is frequently fractured. I realized that to effect systemic change,
one must master the legal mechanics that govern statutory defense and regulatory
oversight.
II. LEGAL PRACTICE & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
For the past two years, I have served as a Senior Paralegal at the Environmental Law &
Policy Center in Washington, D.C. In this role, I have directly supported trial attorneys
through every phase of complex federal litigation involving Clean Water Act enforcement
and municipal zoning disputes. My primary responsibilities included drafting
comprehensive legal memoranda, managing electronic discovery pipelines for multi-party
toxic tort actions, and conducting detailed statutory cross-comparisons between state and
federal environmental codes.
Key Legal & Analytical Proficiencies:
Legal Research & Drafting:
Proficient in Westlaw, LexisNexis, statutory tracking, and
legislative history reconstruction.
Litigation Support:
Discovery management, deposition summaries, exhibit trial
preparation, and FOIA request tracking.
Regulatory Analysis:
Evaluating federal agency rulemaking, NEPA environmental impact
statements, and administrative record compliance.
Working closely with lead counsel on an appellate brief before the D.C. Circuit
transformed my understanding of advocacy. I spent weeks reconstructing the legislative
history of a contested administrative provision to demonstrate agency overreach. Attending
oral arguments and observing the judges evaluate our statutory arguments confirmed that
