Statement of Purpose
:
I write this as a working professional seeking admission to a graduate program at your esteemed
University. In the near future, my aim is to attain an advanced education in Software Engineering through
a Master’s Program. It will provide me the intellectual stimulation, guidance and creative energy to work
on the cutting edge of technology in today’s computing world as well as with businesses, which deals with
computer based information system. I wish to pursue these goals as my long-term professional aspiration
is to put my footprints in the field of Software Engineering through contribution of original ideas and
translating those ideas to develop high-end applications and products which helps in improving people's
lives. Using my innovation and creativity I want to invent some cutting edge technology that will be
beneficial in improving people’s lives and their standard of living. In pursuit of these goals, I decided to
apply for the Master’s programme in Data Science at your esteemed university. The M.Sc.in Software
programme deals with the usage of software to improve the lifestyle of people and productivity of
businesses, which has always fascinated me as a field of study.
Pursuing my strong interest in Information Technology has over the years enabled me to develop keen
analytical and reasoning skills. Through the course of the four-year Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech)
degree programme in Information Technology at the prestigious RMK Engineering College, Chennai, Tamil
Nadu, India, I acquired an overall perspective of this scientific discipline, with a particular interest in Web
Technology, Data Structures, Database Management, Algorithms and programming were some of the
other areas that captured my attention. I have enhanced my skills with recent Internet technologies like
programming in C, C++ and the basics of Database management using SQL and web development.
Then I continued to work at Capgemini in various cities in India like Bangalore, Pune and Chennai to
continue growing my knowledge to the next level. I worked as a Software Engineer performing a role of
Support Executive for a world renowned client. Working in Capgemini I gained more insight into the
Software industry and its operations. I got a number of opportunities to interact with many of the leading
software personnel.
After my stint at Capgemini, I started working at Amazon, Chennai, India for Alexa Data Services as a
Machine Learning Data Associate. Alexa is an interesting product of Amazon that makes use of Data
Science and Machine Learning extensively to improve the lifestyle of people around the world. During this
tenure I was also able to work on Web Development using HTML, CSS and JavaScript as front-end
technologies and Python based frameworks like Flask, Django as the back-end technologies for a few of
my projects. It is during this period that my curiosity and interest in Software Engineering and
programming piqued and I decided to pursue this field of study from a renowned institution.
